Welcome to the 2nd Volume of My OCC Style! Last week I wore this killer dress and arm candy.
I was digging around in the TNT vault the other day and stumbled upon a record of old photos from a circus themed shoot I did with Zeplo Designs a few years ago. Ever since I was little I wanted to be a part of the circus so together we dreamed up this shoot and went to work with photographer, Liz Salisbury, of Venustus Photography. We made the knife throwing wheel from scratch, painted it and placed it on set. Christina Lopez of Zeplo Designs made these sparkling outfits fit for a ring master and her maiden. Adding some curtains, lights, and a few props, the stage was set. Take a look at the results!
My good buddy, Khuan Tru, is a talented Vector Graphic Artist from London who focuses on portraits. His style consists of simple elements of strong, bold black strokes, air brushing and painting on top of submitted portraits that interest him. I love Khuan’s art and we continue to be mutually supportive promoting each other’s work. Last August Khuan posted an interview with me on his website also making this cool banner:
Here’s a cool pic Khuan did from the above photo:
Khuan sent me this print of his art of me last year:
Which I recently got framed and hung in my home office:
Here’s the original photo from which Khuan made his art:
Khuan has been kind enough to make a full page on his website for people he enjoys working with. He made these banners for my page to help promote this blog:
And now for our featured presentation! I present to you the latest and greatest from Khuan Tru 2012:
Khuan is available for hire if you too wish to have some cool art made of yourself or someone you adore. Be sure to visit his website to learn more: http://www.khuantru.com/ Make sure you also check out his galleries to see more of his amazing work!
Thanks Khuan for the lovely portraits!!! Your work is fantastic!!
Neil of Needopix, a dear photographer friend of mine, asked me to help him out with a class project involving some new lighting and backdrops that he recently got. I was happy to return the favor after he did such a great job on our Christmas photos last year. Thankfully, he got an A on the project!

I’m a Christmas Cutie!
On December 6th I was featured as one of Bachelor Pad’s Christmas Cuties! Bachelor Pad Magazine is a vintage inspired magazine where you can see modern pinups in their tantalizing glory. It’s “The New Digest of Atomic Age Culture.” This is a photo taken a few years ago by Glamour Girl Pinups with makeup, hair and wardrobe by me. To see more from this set of photos go here. There’s one Cutie for each day of the month so head on over there and check them out!
Christmas Party Nail Art
My friend Lia came over to help me with my nail art for my Christmas party this year. She brought a wide variety of small brush nail polishes and here’s what I chose to do:
I still haven’t gotten used to doing my own nail art, especially on my right hand, but I’m getting better! I was happy with the results, it didn’t cost me a thing, and they were a hit at my Christmas party! Yay! Now it’s time I invested in a set of polishes of my own.
Got a Christmas party of your own to go to and you need style advice? No need to fear TNT is here! For your wardrobe think anything glittery or sequin in classic colors such as gold, silver, black, white, or red. Mix and match your sparkly pieces with solids or wear a sparkly dress with a cardigan or fur coat. If you choose to wear a sparkly top with a solid bottom or if you don’t have anything sparkly then try pulling your look together with some glittery shoes and accessories. When it comes to makeup, keep it simple and classic especially if your outfit is already loud. My go-to makeup look is always classic pinup especially when I want a sophisticated look without too much makeup. I found this great How-To guide on FashionIndie entitled How To Rock A Casually Chic Pinup Look if you need help trying to figure out the look.
For hair I recommend some simple long curls with a wide curling iron. Or if you have time to try something new, I found this cool DIY for a low hair bow on Refinery29 that I can’t wait to try.
What did I wear for my Christmas party you ask? I wore a red dress that has large hanging sequins on top with my favorite cardigan that has a sheer lace back paired with tights to match. I made my very own glittery black shoes to wear and put on a cameo necklace with matching pearl earrings. I chose the milkmaid braid for my hair and shimmery white eye shadow with a mix of red and black in the corners and crease of the eye. Unfortunately, I was unable to get any pictures but my husband said I was the Belle of the Ball! haha! I need someone to follow me around with a professional camera to document the looks I come up with like so many other bloggers I see around the internet. Any volunteers? lol Maybe I should just invest in a better camera other than my phone and hope for the best when I ask my friends and family to try and capture my look.
Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2012 Collection
OMG when I saw Jason Wu’s Pre-Fall Collection I just about died and went to heaven! Such classic timeless pieces! See for yourself…
Isn’t that metallic blue amazing?! The first two looks scream high fashion pinup to me and I’m head over heels for that look! What do you think?
Happy Holidays Everyone!
I’m wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas! I hope it’s filled with friends, family, joy, and love this holiday season!
Christmas is almost here! Have you done your Christmas cards yet? This year for our Christmas cards I decided to do photo cards since I hadn’t done them in about 5 years or so. I enlisted the help of my good friend Neil, who’s a photographer, to come out and help us make this years Christmas photos look amazing. It was the beginning of October when California weather gears up for winter. I decided we would go to Huntington Beach, since that’s my favorite local beach, and take some fun pix of us in the sand. I think photo cards should say something about your personal style, your location and that moment in time or even something about that year for you. I wore a colorful dress with hidden leopard print that I love and have been wearing all year along with some bangles and a dainty gold necklace my mom gave me. I was never a fan of gold jewelry until about April of this year when I discovered that it goes great with my hair color especially when I wear brown which is a color I never really considered wearing before this year as well. Since I had some brown in my dress, I picked out a brown button up shirt and slacks for my husband. It was great having a friend like Neil taking the photos because we had a fun and relaxed time shooting which is important and can make all the difference with family photos sometimes. He was there making us laugh every step of the way while capturing some really awesome moments, sometimes when we weren’t even looking. The photos turned out better than I could have asked for with no photoshop required! Now that’s talent my friends! It was a beautiful, mostly sunny day, with a little wind brushing our cheeks with chill. When I was ready to make a photo card I headed over to Zazzle.com and had some printed up in plenty of time before the holidays. I still have quite a few left over so if you didn’t get one already and you want one please feel free to send me your address and I’ll send one out to you 🙂 I realized I don’t have many of my friend’s addresses so sorry if I missed you! Here’s how it turned out:
Exclusive to my blog, here’s all of the great shots we took that day:
Festive Nail Art
Ok so I’m keeping up with my manicure now and trying new things I see online. Today’s nail art was inspired by Refinery29 where I saw 3 DIY Festive & Fun Holiday Nail Art. This week I chose this one to try:
I decided to use a blue that was more aqua because I had some matching glittery nail polish to spice it up. The only thing is I don’t think the brush I was using was thin enough to achieve the above look and since this was my very first attempt at using a long thin brush, this is how it turned out. Eh!
I’m going to try it again so hopefully I’ll have better luck next time. At least the process was fun! Now all I need are better brushes. Wanna send me some? lol I’ll have to put that on my wish list for Santa this year. Meanwhile, I’ve been taking necessary steps to prolong my nail art thanks to The Budget Fashionista who posted an article titled 5 Ways to Keep Nails From Chipping.
This Year in Vogue
Fashionista.com posted an article looking back at this year’s Vogue Covers entitled This Year in Vogue: An Analysis of all the Covers from 2011. The part I found most interesting is that models actually got more covers than celebrities! That is a major victory for models this year! Kudos to Vogue for keeping models on covers.
Chanel‘s Métiers d’Art Pre-Fall 2012 Collection
Everyone is talking about the show Karl Lagerfeld put on for Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Pre-Fall 2012 collection mainly because the runway was absolutely amazing!! It looks like a winter wonderland feast!
And the clothes, OMG!, are stunning with such detail! The theme was Paris-Bombay so many of the pieces were inspired by India fashion. I definitely recommend watching the full video via Chanel.com if you have 17 minutes to spare or check out each and every amazing look via Style.com.
A Harvey Nichols Christmas 2011
I saw this hilarious video this week for designer Harvey Nichols that you must watch. Never have I seen an advertisement like this. I must say, very creative…
I was featured this month in Petite Alternative Magazine!
Petite Alternative Magazine is dedicated to highlighting petite, tattooed and pierced women. They have a mission statement that I think is worth while so when I had an opportunity to submit a set to them I got excited about it and styled three different looks. Photographer Mike McDougal did a great job capturing the essence of each look while creating some magazine worthy images. My friend and Hairstylist Robert Rea did my hair the morning of the shoot strategically placing feather hair extensions all over my head and it turned out amazing! Check out the feature below. If you are interested in purchasing the October issue go here.
Here’s the entire set:
Barbie Get’s Tattooed!
Tokidoki Barbie was released this month with tons of controversy. Some mothers are concerned that their little princesses are going to turn into tattooed, cigarette smoking, beer drinking sluts all because Barbie dyed her hair pink and got tatted up. Don’t they know that most people don’t get their tattoos in prison anymore? Just because a person has tattoos doesn’t mean they have a bad reputation and run around town stirring up trouble! Gah! We need more women as strong as Barbie to stand up against this stigma! Personally, I think Tokidoki Barbie looks ah-maze-ing! Cute outfit complete with cat eye makeup and spike the dog. Thanks Barbie, you ROCK!

I saw this hilarious video titled Uggcitrin: The Ugg Boot Vacine. Ugg boots have officially gone out of style (thank gawd!). I’ve never been a big fan of the comfortable boot but know plenty of people who love them many of which are my family members lol. The day after I watched this video I heard that Ugg’s stocks dropped. They better get to re-inventing themselves soon!
I had the pleasure of shooting with Deb again of Deb Brookshier Photography to promote her Halloween Photography Package where you can request me for the hair, makeup, styling, and posing coach! Contact Deb for details. We had such a great time dressing up her daughter, Heather, for the shoot! We did Alice in Wonderland, Bat Girl, and yours truly as a pirate. My favorite was Bat Girl where I made a mask out of jewels! Yes, I bedazzled Bat Girl! Check it out…
I’ve been following the news about Zombie Boy, Rick Genest, because he’s been modeling for some big names like Mugler even though he’s completely covered in tattoos. This is a great step for tattooed models in the high fashion realm where we are generally not accepted. In the spirit of Halloween I wanted to post some new pix of his from a recent editorial for Schon.
Here’s a creepy editorial from the latest Vogue Italia where models, Kirsi Pyrhonen and Audrey Marnay, pose as marionettes. The styling in this is amazing by Jacob K. There are many Steam Punk elements in here mixed with high fashion clothes and creepy blank stares.
Marc Jacobs Collection Resort 2012 Preview
Lastly, I leave you with this Marc Jacobs ad that is both scary and hilarious!
I had the opportunity to style and model for George of GSWAR Photography and managed to pull off 4 looks with the same makeup. Check out the different looks I created and stay tuned because there will be more where that came from including styling and photography packages available to you just in time for the holidays!
I LOVE ELEPHANTS!
When I saw this editorial in the archives on Models.com I just had to post it in my blog. There’s something about these enormous, majestic creatures that’s just so adorable to me. Oh yea and I love the styling for this too.
“In the Steppes of Ulan Bator” by Benjamin Kanarek for VOGUE Brazil June 2010 Issue

Chanel Spring 2012
What a delight Chanel’s new 2012 line is! Inspired by the sea, check out what the water gave Karl Lagerfeld. Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine arose on a half shell singing “What the Water Gave Me” as the models went down the runway.
Versace | Spring Summer 2012 Full Fashion Show | Exclusive
Check out what the water gave Versace this year! Another sea life inspired line. What amazing detail!!
Entertainment Weekly reunited several casts of tv shows and movies in their latest issue, one of which was Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. It so happens that my sister and I watched this movie over and over again as kids so I had to post this image they released online looking fabulous in their Post-It dresses!
