Fall/Winter Beauty Trends 2012
Sometimes it feels like once you’ve caught on to a trend and start wearing it, suddenly everyone is sporting something else. Am I the only one? My biggest problem with trends is that there are some very cool ones that are produced, but they don’t stick around for longer than the season in which they were born. I mean sure you have your timeless classics like the perfect red lip and cat-eye vintage combo, or the au naturel barely there make up looks. But what about the teal mascara trend that was hot 3 seasons ago?
Mini rant aside, I’ve searched out this seasons “It” looks in the cosmetic world, and there are some intriguing new trends emerging from the runways, as well as fresh spins on classic looks. Come take a peek!
Trend: Less Is More aka Bare Faced Beauty
Tip: The more you take care of your skin, the less makeup you need to wear. Unless you have really bad acne, you don’t need to wear a heavy foundation every day. It’s important to let your skin breathe so try going bare faced or if you must, apply a loose powder. Complete the barely there makeup look with a light beige eye shadow, minimal blush, and tinted lip balm.
-Alberta Ferretti -Balmain
-Chloe -Christian Dior
Trend: Make A Statement aka Bold Brows
Tip: Bold brows don’t always mean dark brows: experiment with lightening for a fashion-forward finish. Your eye brows frame your face so try different techniques to find one that fits your look.
-Chanel -Dolce & Gabbana
-Missoni -Vera Wang
Trend: Other World Beauty aka Ethereal
Tip: Use a pearl-toned blue or silver eye pencil and add a line under the lower lash-line to make your eyes pop. Metallics are really in this season but they can easily be over done. Try lining either your lower or upper lid with metallic liners and do the rest of your makeup like you normally do.
-Prada -Doo Ri
-Costello Tagliapietra -Jil Sander
Trend: Sultry Lids aka Smokey Eyes
Tip: The smokey eye is here to stay. A touch of sparkle on the inner corners makes this look party-season perfect.
-Burberry Prorsum -Diane Von Furstenberg
-Valentino -Diane Von Furstenberg
Trend: Graphics Aren’t Just For Comic Books aka Graphic Eyeliner
Tip: Eyes not bold enough for you? Bring a pop art flavor with a primary blue hue or try some graphic eyeliner to give your look a perfect geometric shape.
-Ana Sui -Erdem
-Fendi -Michael Van Der Ham
There were a lot of great trends this season, so much so that I could go on and on but I’ll just leave it at that for now. I hope this season’s beauty trends inspire you to create your own party ready look this Holiday season.
Glittering kisses and love,
