As the seasons shift, so do the trends in the fashion world! In spring and summer, we saw some great trends hit the runways in the designer collections. A few of the more popular trends included neon color blocking, graphic floral prints, art deco, and of course a whole lot of tangerine thanks to this year’s PANTONE© color, Tangerine Tango. Designers wowed the audiences during fashion week with bright statement pieces.

However, as the temperatures drop and winter creeps in with a wave of pumpkin spice lattes and Christmas decorations, the runways move into deeper colors and edgier pieces for those chilly days. In the fall and winter collections, stunning pieces were brought out in a myriad of eye catching trends. While I was browsing a lot of the designer collections for this season (thank you Vogue!) I saw a lot of great trends on the runway, and some very unique statement pieces. I chose my top four favorite trends to share with you.

The first two trends are in the color side of things. One color pairing that has been all the rage is mixing black with navy blue. While some people are still held back by the myth that 2 colors can’t be worn at once, these designers busted it out in their fall and winter collections.

Another great color fad that cropped up on the runways is a deep burgundy hue. One of the best things about this deep red color is that it looks great on just about every skin tone. From peek a boo hints of this vibrant hue to full on outfits, the designers created some amazing pieces with this rich berry shade.

Rag & Bone

The other two trends that I’ve picked as my favorite offered a lot of versatility to the designers and I think they pulled it off wonderfully. A big hit this season has been military inspired fashion, especially jackets. The other chic style to hit the runways has been leather, and lots of it. Not just jackets, but skirts, shirts, and pants as well. Check out these designers who rocked these trends in their collection.

Burberry Prorsum

Jason Wu

Myriam Benoit, Leather Cutout Accent

Rod Arte

Tommy Hilfiger
